Nos Bandera vs Sporting RI kicked off NELASA week 7 at Ceylon Park on game that was reschedule from its original date do to Sporting RI traveling this weekend to participate in a soccer tournament. Nos Bandera control most of the first half and scored first goal by Rafael Ramos in the first half. Bruno Brandão return to his normal position as goalie but still couldn’t stop Sporting from scoring three consecutive goals to go up head 3-1.

Ousmane return from his native country Senegal after missing the first 6 games of the season and he had brilliant game as he scored all three goals for his team. Nos Bandera kept on pressuring Sporting and got one back when Valdano score from the PK spot to make 3-2 at that was where it ended. Sporting got one of their most impressive win of this young 2010. After loosing the 4 out of 5 first games under ex Coach Joia Sporting now got 1 win and 1 draw under the new head coach Nelo Sanca.

NELASA WEEK 6 RECAP.

Aliança CV took a big step in the pursuit of their first NELASA Championship in week 6 Derby vs Fidjos Terra in Brockton. In a must win game to maintain at the top in the standings Alianca did just that by beating Fidjos Terra 2-1 at home goal scored by ex Fidjos Zorru in the first half. Fidjos Terra battle back to tie the game still in the first half goal by Manu, who is playing his first season in the league and has proven to be a very good addition to Fidjos Terra, Manu also scored last week in win vs Strela Negra. In the second half Aliança down a man after midfielder Marlon was red carded but still managed to get the winning goal.
Aliança is still in first place with 15 points and will face Emigrates in week 7 whom also got 15 points after they trashed Stela Negra 3-0 goals by Edens, Ernesto from PK and Valter.

In Boston Nos Bandera hosted and beat Boston FC 2-0 for their 13 points in 6 games played witch is good to keep then in 3rd place. Goals were scored first by Pipito who played his first game after an eight game suspension dated back to last season and Tata scored his first to make it 2-0.

Tabanka played and won their first game without head coach Ze de Pecha who resigned last week. Tabanka finally scored more than 1 goal in a match and beat Curral Grande 3-0 two goals by Bebeto and 1 by Tito.

The red hot Dinamo traveled to East Boston to take on Safira FC and come away with a 2-2 tie after been down 2-0 two goals scored by Quim for Dinamo.

Sporting RI traveled to Brockton to take on Café de Fogo with new head coach Nelo Sanca, and game ended in a tie 2-2.

Juventude continue to struggle as they loss their forth straight game. The final was 2-0 in favor of Tarrafal goals by Joven e Tequinho,

Boston FC leading the league in some interesting categories!

With only 5 games thus far Boston FC has scored 14 goals witch is the most by any team in 5 games span this season. Toti and Willy have combine for 11 of the 14 goals, Toti with six to lead the league and Willy with 5 in second place. Paulino, Quis and Edosn have 1 each. Boston FC is in 4th place with 9 points in 5 games and they could be the surprise team of this 2010 season.

Ze has resigned as the Head Coach at Tabanka!

Futebolcriolo.com has learned that Ze de Pecha has resigned as Tabanka’s head coach in a letter sent to Tabanka May 17, 2010. Ze has been the head Coach at Tabanka since 2006 where he won multiples Championships starting in 2007 when he won Tabanka’s first NELASA Championship and the most recent last season he won NELASA Championship and Supper cup as the head coach. Ze brought to Tabanka 2 Championship 1 Cup and 1 Supper Cup in 4 years as the Head Coach, He is considered by many to be the best Coach in NELASA league and it is a big loss for Tabanka organization if he in fact decides to leave. Ze has been under a lot of pressure do to Tabanka disappointments this season on the field, with last weekend loss Vs Dinamo marked their third straight loss the team has only scored 3 goals in 5 games and has not scored any goals in the last two games. Tabanka have one of the most talented roster in the league with players like Silvio, Bebeto, Samuel, Jair, Flavio, Vivino, Pirochu, Ne, Scaia, To de Boianu and more, but still can’t manage to win games, they have a 1-1-3 record, the lonely win so far was a 1-0 victory over Café De Fogo in week 2 since than they have loss week-3 2-1 to Nos Bandera, week-4 1-0 to Safira and week-5 1-0 to Dinamo.

NELASA WEEK 5 RECAP!



Week 5 kicked off with a bang Friday night at Ceylon Park where Curral Grande managed to come up with a 0-0 tie despite been outplayed by Nos Bandera. Curral Grande Goalkeeper Janito had a huge night with 8 safe to give his team the much needed 1 point.

Saturday in RI the struggling Tabanka came up short again vs Dinamo in a 1-0 loss. Dinamo’s goal was scored in the first half by Sandro and that was enough to seal the deal. Tabanka has loss 3 games in a row and only 4 points in 5 matches.

Also in RI Sporting continue to struggle their third loss at home in as much game, a 3-0 loss to Mindelo Association.

In Brockton Emigrantes managed a 1-0 win over last place Juventude to stay perfect thru 4 games goal scored by Djay.

Strela Negra loss their first of 2010 vs Fidjus Terra 3-0 goals by Pina, Manu and Narciso respectively.

Safira FC got their third win 2-1 victory in a tight game vs. Tarrafal two goals by medfielder Rodrigo, and Sousa scored for Tarrafal for his second of the season. Tarrafal has now loss three games in a row since winning the opperner vs. Sporting RI.

Boston FC trashed Café De Fogo 5-1 Mohamed Ahmed "Willy” scored a hat trick for his 5th goals in 2 games he is now second to his team mate Toti who also scored from the PK spot for his 6th goal. The two players combine for 11 of Boston FC 14 goals. Quis also added the 5th goals for Boston FC. Boston FC were down 1-0 after the first minute when Captain Joao Canuto scored the first goal of the match for Cafe D'Fogo, but Boston FC turn the game around with 5 unanswered goals. They now lead the league in goals scored with 14.

Alianca got to rest this week and will face Fidjus Terra in week 6.

Nilton Canuto has left Curral Grande to join Nos Bandera.

Nilton Canuto has left Curral Grande to join Nos Bandera. According to multiple sources Nilton is officially a member of Nos Bandera and he should be able to play in week 5 versus none other than his old club. Nilton has decided to join Nos Bandera after been disappointed in his team and teammates lack of effort, he was not happy after Curral Grande loss three consecutive games and decided to make the change. Nilton scored 13 goals in 09’ witch was the 4th best in the league. Nos Bandera will take on Curral Grande Friday night May, 14 at Ceylon Park.

NELASA 2010 Week 4 Recap . Alianca Leads after 4 games

This weekend the final ruling come out against Dinamo regarding week’s one game Vs. Alianca, witch means Alianca now leads the league in standings with 12 points a perfect record thru 4 games. Alianca took on Sporting in Brockton Sunday and put on a show with 3-0 victory, Zorru scored his second goal of the season to open the score board and the young talented Danny add 2 more in the second half.

Saturday in Boston there were a few upsets. First Dinamo presented a superior soccer against Nos Bandera and come away with their first victory of 2010 season and handed Nos Bandera their first loss. Dinamo scored first with a goal by Jonithan in the first half but Nos Bandera tied right before the half on a goal by the new comer Taidi for his first of the season. In the second half Dinamo held Nos Bandera scoreless and added the game winning goal by Andrez to seal the victory.






The second upset of the day was a 1-0 victory by Safira FC over Tabanka Safira scored in the 89th minute, goals scored by #6 Jovanny.







In Brockton Boston FC come away with a 3-1 win over Mindelo, Toti added one more to his league leading 5 goals in 4 games, Walli scored his first and second goals of the season.

Curral Grande got their first points after three consecutive losses, a 2-0 win over Café D’Fogo Denny got his second goal and #10 Vicente scored his first.

Emigrantes remain perfect thru three games with a 2-0 win over Tarrafal Ernesto and Ze both got their first goals of the season.

Fidjus Terra X Juventude was canceled do to heavy rain. The game will be rescheduled on a later date by the league.

Strela Negra has a perfect record of 3-0-0 stay out in week 4 and they will take on Fidjus Terra in week 5.

Placido Teixeira Player of the month of April.


Strela Negra had a perfect record 3-0-0 during the month of April and Placido was one the big reason why. Placido had a hat trick on the first game of the 2010 season when Strela laid a beat down on Curral Grande a 5-1 victory. After that Placido had numerous of chances to score in week 2 victory Vs. Boston FC and missed to add on to his goals total but he capitalized in week 3 when Strela traveled to R.I to take on Sporting and came away with a 1-0 victory. Four goals in three games and a perfect team record earns Placido Teixeira player of the month of April honor, the first to be handed out by Futebolcriolo.com.

Week 3 review.

Week three brought a lot of excitements, starting Friday night at Ceylon Park with a big match up between Tabanka and Nos Bandera where we saw a lot of first. Bebeto and Valdano played their first game of the season, Jose Rafael and Bebeto got their first goal and Nos Bandera come out with a win on their fist Derby of the season.
Jose Depina Score early in the first half, Bebeto tied the game with just seconds left in the first, and Rafael scored the wining goal against his old clubs to give Nos Bandera the three points.

Saturday the rest of the game had to be played where Fidjus Terra got their first win and handed Tarrafal their first loss a 2-0 victory two goals score by Beto.

Emigrantes hosted Safira FC and come out with a 3-2 victory Danny scored his second of the season while Zico and Michel picked with their first goal.

Dinamo lost at home against Café De Fogo after been up 1-0, Joao De Lele score twice.

Sporting RI loss 1-0 to the red hot Strela Negra at home Placido added 1 more goal to tie Toti (Boston FC) 4 goals for the league leader in goals scored.

Alianca CV hammered Boston FC 5-2 to stay undefeated, Dayjon score twice while Zico, Zorru and Nana score one each.

Curral Grande still struggling after losing again 1-0 at home to Mindelo goal score by Sa in the 88th min of second half.

Nos Bandera 2-1 over Tabanka week 3 Derby






What most people are calling the best NELASA game ever played, took place this past weekend in Boston when last season Champs, Club Tabanka hosted Nos Bandera under the lights at Ceylon Park. Week 3 derby between Tabanka and Nos Bandera was just what the fans and NELASA expected a very intense and exciding game with a lot of fans showing up from all corners of Cape-Verdean Communities around New England.

Nos Bandera gain the upper hand early in the 7th minute of the match when Jose Depina hit a powerful shot from inside the penalty box to beat goalkeeper Lito, the place went wild and Nos Bandera fed of that and controls most of the first half, but could not hold Tabanka as the newly acquired ex Strela Negra forward Bebeto score at the end of the first half from at throw in by Pirochu to tie the game 1-1.

In the second half Tabanka played a much better half but could not capitalize, as they had numerous of chances to score. Defender Jair had two opportunities from inside the box but missed both times, Pirochu also had a chance when he got a breakaway all alone with goalkeeper Cuca shoot it to high over the bar. Nos Bandera didn’t give up and didn’t missed when they had their chances, in the 20th minutes of the second half, on a beautiful strike by ex Tabanka Rafael from outside the box, beat Lito in the far right hand corner, Lito couldn’t do nothing but look at the ball going in. Nos Bandera went head 2-1 and held Tabanka scoreless in the second half to come out with they third win of the season.

Nos Bandera is sitting right now in third place with three wins in three games with this one been one of the most significant win yet in this young 2010 season.

Tabanka whom many people picked to be the favorite, so far has started the season in a shaky note with only 4 points in 3 games 1 tie, 1 win and 1 loss. Tabanka is currently in 6th place with 4 points.
